Beatific language is used in the stories. The fact is, the book does one thing the movies do another but it not like Tolkien did it all correctly or as well as it could have been done. Where are the farmers? Where shop keepers and customers? Heck, Tolkien says gobins and orcs are handy with gadgets, so at least where are the factory jobs?" Yet, most players won't care, they will care more about how high the pitch of the squeal is when you skewer the bastards. But, lets be honest most gamers won't sit there saying, "Morder doesn't seem socially realistic for how these communities woudl last for more than two months let alone millennial. This game is going to do deep into Mordor and we SHOULD be seeing those things, but the game seem to be giving short shrift to such subjects.that annoyed me. Let's be realistic Goblins and Orcs have families, they have villages, they have jobs and thus they have semi-funtional communities but Tolkien never cared to talk about that and certainly the numerous other books, movies, animated features did not give a damn either. When 'this' game was announced I was a little peeved that once again the "community" and "life" of goblins and orcs was so preposterous.

As a linguist that is most of his focus, while ignoring some of the more mundane subjects that woudl make middle earth full of functional societies. I can see what you saying, but on the other hand Tolkien was not great about filling in details of lore. The books focus on a different period of Middle Earth's history, from what little I know about the game's story. TLDR: If anything, knowing about the lore of the universe might take away from your appreciation. I just want to see an honest take on my favorite universe for once. But in the video games everyone has a flaming sword and can run on water.ĭon't get me wrong, this game looks really cool. The WIZARD from LotR was basically magically good at doing voices and whistling, but otherwise just a wise bad ass with a sword. Because in the video games, everyone's a fucking ninja with silly magic abilities. Yeah, but as with most things that use that universe in the industry, it sort of shits all over a lot of the history and lore that exists already. Not everything that happens in that world has to revolve around Frodo and the ring, and I think it will be interesting to see some other perspectives. It's not a Lord of the Rings game at all, the title is Middle Earth, not LOTR. They made a brand new story that was not part of any of Tolkien books except for 2-3 shoehorned characters.
